395–405nm UV-LED across five intensity levels — 12, 17, 21, 24 and 27 mW/cm². Cures Lightful Blue in half a second at level 5. Full-height telescopic stand with a weighted base, so it sits beside your bed instead of eating your cart. 600mm gooseneck that rotates a full 360°, an adjustable lens for focused or diffused light, and an anti-slip foot switch so your hands never leave the tweezers.

About the "is UV near the eyes safe" question — I asked it first, and I asked it properly.

This lamp is tested to EN 62471 and classified Exempt Group, the lowest photobiological risk classification in the standard — measured at 200mm at level 5, the lamp's strongest setting, which is the standard's conservative worst-case setup. That's also the recommended working distance, so used as directed you're working at exactly the distance it was tested at.

The distance is the part nobody tells you. EN 62471 allows more than one measurement setup, and the distance changes the answer. A result measured at arm's length is far easier to get than one measured at 200mm at full power. So when any brand quotes you a risk group — mine included — ask what distance they tested at. If they can't tell you, the number doesn't mean much.

I also have it in writing that the unit you receive is the same model that was tested, and that internal components are never changed between batches.

Works with UV lash adhesives formulated for 395–405nm. It will not do anything useful for a standard cyanoacrylate adhesive — those cure on humidity, not light.

The lamp is USB-powered — the foot switch's USB lead plugs into your power source.

Set Up & Use

Assembly

  1. Connect the telescopic rod. Take out the lamp head (with hose) and the telescopic rod. The power cord is already threaded through the rod. Screw the threaded end of the hose into the matching hole on the thin rod and tighten firmly.
  2. Set the telescopic rod. Loosen the hand screw sleeve, pull the thin rod out of the thick rod, and make sure the threads at the other end of the thick rod are fully exposed. Tighten the sleeve again.
  3. Attach the extension rod. Its power cord is also pre-threaded. Screw the threaded hole on the thick rod onto the joint on the extension rod and tighten firmly.
  4. Connect the base. Set the base on the floor, pass the power cord at the end of the extension rod through the large hole in the centre of the iron plate, stand the assembled rods up, and screw the extension rod into the joint on the base.
  5. Power it up. Pull the DC female connector out from the bottom of the base and plug it into the DC male connector on the foot switch. Then connect the foot switch's USB lead to your power supply.

Using it

Turning it on. Press the foot switch to light the lamp; release it to turn the lamp off.

Brightness. With the lamp on, tap the "+ / −" mark on top of the lamp head to move through the five brightness levels.

Intensity memory. Hold the pedal down and adjust the intensity until the light turns off. Next time you switch on, it comes back at the intensity you set.

Height. Unscrew the hand screw sleeve counter-clockwise, slide the telescopic rod up or down, then tighten it clockwise.

Lamp head position. Bend the hose to place it. The universal joint rotates a full 360° and swings 90° left and right.

Spot size. Twist the focus sleeve on the lamp head to change the size of the light spot. Twisting clockwise makes the spot smaller — and a smaller spot concentrates more energy into a smaller area. Use a spot that comfortably covers the lash line rather than the tightest one it will make.

The 5-second auto shut-off is deliberate. Hold the foot switch down and the lamp switches itself off after 5 seconds. Release and press again to restart it. Adjusting the brightness resets the timer. It's a safety feature, not a fault — this lamp is built for half-second cures, not for being left running.

Safe Use

Lightful tested Exempt Group under EN 62471 — the lowest photobiological risk classification there is — measured at 200mm at level 5, the lamp's strongest setting, which is the standard's worst-case setup. That's the lamp doing its job. This is you doing yours.

  1. Goggles on. Yours. Every client, every time. They're in the box for a reason.
  2. Your client's eyes stay closed and patched for the entire service. Never cure over an open eye. Not for half a second, not to "just check something."
  3. Nobody looks into the light. Not you, not your client, not the friend who came along. Point it at the lash line — never at a face.
  4. Work at 20cm from the eye, with the glue dot in the centre of the light cone. That's the manufacturer's recommended working distance and the exact distance the EN 62471 test was run at — so used as directed, you're working at the tested condition. Closer is not better and it isn't faster.
  5. Use the foot switch. The light should be on only while you're actually curing.
  6. The half-second cure is at level 5. Levels 1–4 work, they just take longer. Run it at level 5 without a second thought — that's where the testing was done. If you prefer a softer light, that's fine, but give it the extra time. Don't assume half a second did the job at level 2: an under-cured bond looks identical to a cured one until week three.
  7. Sharing a studio? Angle the gooseneck down toward your own bed, not out across the room.
  8. Don't modify the lamp. No swapping the adapter for a higher-output one, no aftermarket bulbs. The Exempt Group classification applies to this lamp as it was tested.
  9. Electrical care. Don't run it with a damaged cord, don't submerge it, unplug before cleaning. Barely damp cloth — no acetone, it'll haze the plastic.
  10. Don't disassemble or repair it yourself. Nothing inside is user-serviceable. Switch it off, unplug it and contact us.

The manufacturer's own precautions, verbatim:

  1. Read the instructions carefully before use and install the lamp according to the instructions.
  2. Operators should wear protective glasses when using it, and do not look directly at the ultraviolet lamp beads to prevent eye damage.
  3. For safety protection, the light will automatically turn off after stepping on the foot switch for 5 seconds; release the foot switch and step on it again to light up again. The automatic extinguishing time resets after adjusting the brightness.

Contraindications. The manufacturer advises that this treatment should not be used on clients with epilepsy, hemophilia, photosensitive conditions, or who are taking photosensitising medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding clients should consult their physician first. Add these to your consultation form and ask before the first cure, not after.

Testing & Compliance

Photobiological safety — EN 62471:2008. Report No. MK25040055P01-S01, TMC Testing Services (Shenzhen), issued April 17, 2025. Measured at 200mm at level 5, the lamp's strongest setting — the standard's conservative worst-case setup. Result: Exempt Group across all tested hazards (actinic UV, near-UV, retinal blue light, retinal thermal, infrared).

Why the test conditions matter: EN 62471 allows more than one measurement setup, and the distance chosen changes the result. Lightful was measured at 200mm at full power. Ask any brand quoting a risk group what distance they tested at — the number is meaningless without it.

Please don't disassemble or repair the lamp yourself — if you do, you're responsible for what follows, and touching the internals can cause injury. If something malfunctions, turn off the power, unplug the cord and get in touch with us.

Keep the foot switch and lamp head dry. Unplug before cleaning and wipe the housing with a barely damp cloth — no acetone or solvents, they'll haze the plastic.
